Building Black Economic Power.
Deconstructing the Road to Zero Wealth.
BLACK POVERTY
is neither a matter of fact nor the natural result of living in a just society.
It's a matter of
STRATEGIC DESIGN.
Architecting Black Economic Empowerment
Since the first enslaved Africans arrived as cargo on the White Lion in 1619, African bodies have been largely welcomed on the continent as units of productive labor not intended to partake of the fruit of their labor. This reality has, for more than 400 years, set in motion the racial class and wealth gaps that now permeate much of the world and American society.
At the Center for Urban Economic Justice, we believe America's racial wealth divide can be reversed. Learn more about the 5 Keystones necessary to create a fair and just economy.
"There is nothing new about poverty. What is new, however, is that we have the resources to get rid of it."
Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Youth
Entrepreneurship
Any serious effort at building Black economic empowerment must include strategies for developing Black youth. Our youth programming is designed to inspire participants to envision their role and power in solving challenges that face their communities.
Each program creates a fun learning environment that fosters imagination and expands our students' creative capacities. They will develop and practice key skills like problem solving, critical thinking, team work, leadership, and public speaking.
